Ural Federal district is one of the largest in territory but smallest entities in the district. This is the territory of four regions (the Kurgan, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk and Tyumen with Yamal and Khanty) between the Urals and Western Siberia. The largest number of residents (more than 75% of the population) are Russians, followed by Tatars (about 5%), Bashkirs, Ukrainians (2%) and others.
